MTHS Parent Group Meeting Notes

January 8, 2007

Parent Group Meeting with Greg Schwab

Snow make up days will soon be determined by the District.  They are scheduled for the end of the year.  School will most likely go through June 22.  Also the district will most likely use 2 of the Staff In-Service days if needed.  These won't be on the calendar until March or so, and the District will communicate the information well before it happens.

Beginning Feb. 5th, SnoKing will be offering a Drivers Ed class on Mondays and Wednesdays at MTHS after school.  If interested call Sno-King Driving School

425-776-1242

SnoIsle Skill Center has a campus in Mukilteo.  The Edmonds School District is a part of this so our students can take Voc-Tech classes.  January 17th they will be at MTHS during periods 2, 3, and 4 to share information with the students.

The end of the semester finals will be Jan. 23 and 24th.  There is a finals schedule posted on the MTHS web site.   January 25th is Senior Project Presentation day.  It is an early dismissal and school will be let out at 10:20.

January 29th is the first day of the second semester.

Report cards should be out the second week of February, (also available on Skyward Family Access).

A new attendance policy is in place for the second semester.  13 absences in a semester loses credit in that class.  Students can then petition for a passing grade.  Notices will be sent out at least twice before there are 13 absences.  This does not include absence for school related activities.  The policy is meant to help students before bad habits are formed.  It is also a pilot program so that next fall a good attendance policy will be in place.

The Weapons Policy at MTHS was covered.  Students in possession of a weapon on campus will receive a long term suspension or expulsion, depending on the situation.  We have police on the campus during school hours.

The next Parent Meeting will be Monday Feb. 5th.   We will be talking about Advanced Placement classes for next fall.  Input is needed to let the school know what classes and how many to offer.
