MTHS Parent Club Meeting Notes

10/17/05

Up-Coming Events
Saturday, Nov. 5th, Winter Bazaar - 9:00-5:00pm, details below. (Volunteers Needed!)

Meeting Notes:
Thanks to everyone for coming to our Parent Club Meeting, great turnout!

Principal Schwab updated us on the up-coming Edmonds School District Levy and Capital Construction Bond Election. The election for both measures will take place Tuesday, Feb. 7th, 2006. You can get more information on the Edmonds School District Website: http://www.edmonds.wednet.edu/ by clicking on "District Levy & Bond Election Information"

We need your help! These two important measures are critical to the future continued success of our school district. We need people to help get the word out, explaining to the community what the Levy money is used for and how the Construction Bond money will be used. And explain to the public how passing both of these measures will not increase their taxes.

How you can help:

  1. Volunteer to phone voters who already support these measures and just remind them to vote. You would not be trying to sell the measures. There will be two dates set-up for the phone calling, one in November and one in February, dates to be announced. Each date only requires 1 ½ hours of time commitment from 6:00-7:30pm. If you are interested and able, please e-mail Robin Downie, robindo@msn.com.
  2. Volunteer to canvas door to door with a friend. There is a flier with clear information for you to share with voters. If you are interested, please contact Robin Downie, robindo@msn.com.
  3. Send letters to the editor stating your support of these two measures.

Skyward Family Access is now available for accessing student's attendance and grades! Check it out via the Mountlake Terrace High School Website, www.edmonds.wednet.edu/mths/ Just click on the "Skyward Family Access" link and login.

New Bell Schedule: All of the small schools will be using the same daily class schedule next year. Meetings are currently taking place to determine what that daily schedule will be (7-period day, block classes or a combination of both). The deadline for setting the new schedule is Dec. 14th. As a parent, if you would like to have input, you are welcome to attend the next meeting Oct. 31st at 2:15 pm in the MTHS Career Center.

New Volunteer Coordinator: Laura Munson has accepted the position of Volunteer Coordinator for MTHS. Look for further volunteer opportunities soon!

Winter Bazaar: Saturday, Nov. 5th in the HUB. 9:00-5:00pm
The Senior Class will be hosting a Winter Bazaar with the proceeds supporting the parent sponsored Senior All Night Graduation Party. If you are interested in being a vendor and renting a table for the day, the cost is $30/adult $15/student.
