Student Wanted:
How could money be raised to support the student, teachers
and school directly?
If we
created a Parent Group Web-Site on which we could advertise from such
companies as Amazon.com, etc., we could raise money for MTHS just by
having people click on these commercial links. We would have a link to
the Parent Group web-site from the homepage of the MTHS website. (There
can be no direct advertising on the school web-site).
Anyone
interested in the challenge? Possible senior project?

Mid-Semester Progress Reports will be mailed home next week. You can also check out Skyward Family Access from the MTHS homepage for current grades (not all teachers are using Skyward yet, but many of them are.)
Asst. Principal Diane Lashinsky and Asst. Principal David Tadlock outlined the proposed MTHS Attendance Policy that will be piloted next semester. This policy is being created to take action regarding attendance prior to any Becca action being taken. This attendance policy will be such that if a student misses 15% of the total number of days in a given semester (approx. 13 days) in any one class, they will not receive credit for that class. Parents will be notified before this action is taken. There will be a petition process in place, so that a student can appeal. The petition process will need to be completed prior to the end of the semester. This attendance policy being implemented is consistent with attendance policies at the other Edmonds School District High Schools, and is seen as very necessary in helping students succeed and not fall behind. Only school related activities will be excusable, all other absences are considered unexcused. Any questions or comments may be directed to Diane Lashinsky, LashinskyD@edmonds.wednet.edu or David Tadlock, TadlockD@edmonds.wednet.edu
Security Cameras are being installed starting in January 2007. There will initially be 10 cameras installed and each year more cameras will be added to the system. Eventually there will be approx. 24 cameras within the school and parking lots.
Winter Sports Start next Monday, November 13th…..make sure your student has all the necessary documents and paperwork.
One of the Starbucks at Alderwood Mall (not the one by the theatre, the other one) has basically adopted MTHS. They are supplying guest speakers, internships, people to do mock interviews and people to view senior projects. If you are at the Mall, frequent their store, buy some coffee and say thanks!
Freshman Parents, you have been heard and thanks for speaking up. Two things, Barb Brister is compiling information that will be accessible from the Parent Group Page on the MTHS website specifically to answer many freshman parent questions. And next year Principal Schwab will hold a Freshman Parent Orientation before the start of the new school year!
